Community Mental Health Counseling course

 

The Mental Health psychosocial consultant certificate is designed for passionate people who have the psychological traits for helping others. It is not necessary to have psychology or counseling degrees or even a mental health background to achieve this certificate. Of course, this certificate does not replace the professional interventions by psychotherapist, psychologists, counselors, or mental health professionals, thousands or of those who claimed to have mental disorders are in need of passionate, caring skilled people to deal with their conditions. Therefore, mental health psychosocial consultants are equipped with the basic skills enabling them to build trustful relationship with their clients, empathic listening and able to build effective client-helper relationship.

 

The training encompasses various modules to enable participants to gain more skills and knowledge in providing basic intervention techniques at the individual and community level.

 

At the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Know the basic skills of reflective active listening and paraphrasing

  • Examine and practice attending skills in the role to be played by of counselor

  • Assist those who seek help by giving them comfort, listening, helping people to make informed decisions,

  • Make referrals to other services or professional support

  • Provide follow-up support or practical assistance after a person has seen professional counselors.

  • Offer front-line support via a telephone hotline or first contact with someone in distress

  • Provide empathic, listening and attentive silence and natural helping abilities to those asking for help

  • Empower individuals to deal and cope with their stressful and critical life situations

  • Identify people who in need for more advanced mental or psychiatric services
